CAFOD

CAFOD is the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales and part of Caritas International.

Across the world it works to bring hope and compassion to poor communities, standing side by side with them to end poverty and injustice working with people of all faiths and none.

Inspired by Scripture and Catholic Social Teaching, and the experiences and hopes of people living in poverty, CAFOD works for a safe, sustainable and peaceful world.

From the time of CAFOD’s foundation in the 1960’s the people of St. Cuthbert’s have generously supported its work, regularly being amongst  the top donor parishes in the country. As well as supporting CAFOD’s Fast Days, World Gifts and special disaster collections, many parishioners give regularly using the special envelopes found in boxes on the backs of the pews in church which also have a tear off Gift Aid slip. If these are completed, they are sent to Cafod and they can claim back an extra 20%.
