Sacraments

During His ministry Christ instituted the sacraments of the new law and founded the Church. The Church was made manifest to the world at Pentecost by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The gift of the Spirit ushers in a new era of salvation history: the age of the Church.  Christ now manifests, makes present, and communicates His work of salvation through the liturgy of His Church, “until He comes again.” in order to communicate of the fruits of His Paschal mystery through the sacraments.

There are seven sacraments: Baptism, Confirmation, the Eucharist, Penance (also know as Confession or Reconciliation), the Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders and Matrimony. The sacraments touch upon all the important moments of Christian life and bring nourishment, healing and mission to the Church’s life of faith.

The menu above gives some details of  how some of the sacraments are celebrated here at St. Cuthbert’s as well as information on related matters such as funerals.
